It’s Saturday afternoon and the Harms brothers and Jason French are meeting with Pastor Adrian regarding tomorrow’s service at Victory Baptist. We will be leading worship and French will be preaching. Later this evening we will be playing at a city-wide gathering in the main park in Comanesti. They typically have music at this annual event and couldn’t afford to hire a band this year, so Pastor Adrian offered to have our group be the entertainment. It’s an incredible opportunity for us to be smack in the middle of the city’s annual get-together and share the gospel.
We had a great day yesterday. The “orphanage” turned out to be a home for the mentally handicapped run by a British guy named Steve Cooper. It was a cool facility with a very loving staff. We were blessed by everyone’s excitement at our being there. After that we drove straight to one of the few gypsy churches in the area and had a worship service with them. It was an amazing experience and such a perfect way to start our trip.
Please pray for tonight’s gig in the park and tomorrow’s service. The word is that the traditional Romanian churches might not be very receptive of Jazz, so we are asking the Lord to use us to glorify him even though our music isn’t the cultural preference among the non-gypsies.
